Just One Day
Like many others, I initially supported the war in Iraq. I don't think I know enough to know if I was wrong. But I do know enough about the horrible state of social services, healthcare and education in this country to be very very afraid.

not a friend of the environment
I remember, growing up in the 80s that there seemed to be a giant 'green movement' at that time. I can't recall why - most of my early childhood is blur, but I think that was probably the first hint of global warming. My jury is still out on how much stock to put in global warming - sometimes people sound like conspiracy theorists when they talk about global warming. Anyway, I'm off topic.
My job lets me commute to work by taking the Metrorail. I have been doing it for a couple of months and I like it a lot. It doesn't take much time off my commute but the stress factor of traffic is significantly reduced. BUT. There is one big drawback for me. I love having church in my car. My car is my place, it's all mine. For about a year now I spend my commute to work listening to Podcasts of varoius pastors. I hold church. It's my quiet time, it's an awesome time for me to get with God. People always remark that I walk into work wiith a smile on my face...well this is why.
So here are my "weekday pastors" - who make my commute so pleasant and get me on the right page with God each and every morning. I probably look like a crazy person in my car as I laugh and cry along with the sermons.

- The pastors of my own church, Christ Fellowship, Rick Blackwood and Eric Geiger
- Pastor Steven Furtick at Elevation Church in Charlotte
- Pastor Andy Stanley at North Point Church in Atlanta
Ok - so what does that have to do w/ the environment? I recently decided to stop trying to take the train to work b/c I seriously missed my car-church each morning. It sounds silly, but it was so important to me. I guess I will have to apologize to my grandkids after I've helped to screw up the environment by driving 12-miles round trip to work each day.
The start of a beautiful thing
This is the start of something new - My blog. I decided to start a blog for a few reasons.
- I started a blog for Alex's photography business, Candidly Elegant Photography and it's been a lot of fun. I've found now when we're shooting weddings that I consciously make an effort to look for stuff to blog about - makes blogging easier.
- B/c of blogging for Candidly Elegant, I started visiting a bunch of other blogs - some are other photographers, some are friends at church, and some are old friends. I will post links to those blogs that I read later....I really just want to get this FIRST post off my plate.
- I get so much out of other people's blogs. It's so fun and refreshing to realize that everyday life is SO INTERESTING....when it's not yours.
So I hope that you enjoy our blog. I hope that it gives some insight into my life. I will warn you that my gut feeling is that my life is pretty boring - alex and are workaholics and relaxaholics. How does that work? you ask yourself? Well, we work really really hard - and then we we stop we relax really really hard. We swing to either end of the spectrum.
I promise to try to keep it interesting. (by the way, I know that this turned out all funky - and I know how to avoid it in the FUTURE, but I can't fix it now that it's done....sorry.)
Shaleen.
